STAMPA, the Irish National Stamp Exhibition, will celebrate its 45th anniversary in 2017 with a return to the venue at Griffith College, Dublin. This will be the second exhibition at the new venue, following on from last year’s great success.
If you collect Irish Stamps or if you have an interest in Irish Philately, or stamps and philately in general or even stamp competitions, then this is the show for you. The original show was held in Ireland House on St. Stephen’s Green in 1972. Over the past 45 years, STAMPA has been held in various Dublin venues, including the Royal Dublin Society (RDS). In 2016, we moved to Griffith College. This historic location, a former army barracks, is named after Arthur Grifiths and has a modern well lit auditorium with on-site catering facilities, wi-fi and free parking.
STAMPA 2017 will be held from 6th to 8th October and Stampa 2018 from 5th to 7th October.
You are invited to participate in STAMPA 2017 or simply wander through the dealers’ stands and competitors’ displays, which will feature stamp exhibits, a display of miniature postboxes, national and international dealers and An Post. A set of three philatelic souvenirs are available exclusively to STAMPA members and, in addition, there will be a public souvenir for sale at the show. The special souvenirs are not available from An Post. A set of three illustrated and serviced covers will also be available at the exhibition or by post from STAMPA. The covers will bear special postmark cancellations provided by An Post, one for each day.
Further details are included in the ‘Souvenir Page’ on this website.
A major feature of STAMPA has always been the competition entries and displays. There are many classes in which exhibitors can enter whether novice or advanced – see the Awards and Entry Form pages for details. For STAMPA 2017, we have added a new PICTURE POSTCARD class.
