In 2025 we introduced a new category for under 19 year olds.

Youth Competitions

An under-19 Youth Competition was introduced at Stampa, the Irish National Stamp Exhibition, in 2025.

Have you started collecting and wondered what you can do next? How about exhibiting? Exhibiting gives you an opportunity to plan and prepare your collection to be displayed at a public exhibition.

At Stampa we have a Novice Class that caters for more experienced collectors, but now a Youth Class has been introduced for anyone aged 18 or under as of  1st January the following year. This Class is ideally suited for younger beginners to develop their philatelic knowledge and presentation skills in preparation for the main competition.

The exhibit rules are that the entry is 1, 2 or 3 frames (16 sheets 8.5 x 11 inches, or similar per frame) in any of the Stampa classes. The exhibitor can be an individual or a group. The overall winner will be awarded a trophy and all entries will be awarded a medal. The entry fee is 30 euro.

This type of exhibit, ideally suited to young collectors, will be similar to the adult classes – Traditional, Postal Stationery, Revenue, Aerophilately, Postal History, Thematic, Modern, Open, Postcards and Maximaphily. It is best to arrange the exhibit in a logical order, or chronologically if the display is related to a timeline or an historical event. The exhibit should have a title page as the first page with an introduction setting out the plan and a brief outline of the purpose of the exhibit.

Each page should be in an exhibition protector with captions and/or a brief write-up to describe the subject matter.

Entrants should also read the detailed rules in the Stampa prospectus.
